ZNBS PAYS COURTESY CALL ON SHIBUYUNJI TOWN COUNCIL SECRETARY
Officials from the Zambia National Building Society (ZNBS) today paid a courtesy call on the Council Secretary for Shibuyunji Town Council, Mr Oscar Chilanga, as part of their familiarisation visit and stakeholder engagement programme.
The meeting, held at the Council Secretaryβs Office, brought together ZNBS representatives and management staff from Shibuyunji Town Council. The engagement provided a platform for ZNBS to introduce its products and services that may be beneficial to Local Authorities.
During the meeting, ZNBS officials highlighted the various services offered by the institution, including housing finance solutions such as mortgage loans, home ownership financing, property development financing, savings and investment products, personal banking services, and other financial solutions designed to support individuals, institutions, and organisations.
The officials further explained how these services can support Local Authorities, employees, and communities through access to affordable financial products and improved opportunities for property ownership and investment.
Mr Chilanga welcomed the engagement and expressed appreciation for ZNBSβs initiative to engage with the Council. He noted the importance of partnerships that contribute to institutional growth, employee welfare, and improved service delivery.
The courtesy call formed part of ZNBSβs efforts to strengthen relationships with stakeholders, create awareness of its products and services, and explore possible areas of collaboration with Local Authorities.

The Voter Verification Device (VVD) is an important tool used by election officials to confirm that a voter is registered and eligible to vote at a polling station.
The device helps to:

Prevent multiple voting and other electoral malpractices.

Enhance transparency, credibility, and confidence in elections.
Before being issued with a ballot paper, a voterβs details are checked using the VVD to ensure they appear in the votersβ register for that polling station.
The use of the Voter Verification Device contributes to a smooth, efficient, and credible electoral process, ensuring that every eligible voter can exercise their democratic right.

COUNCIL SECRETARY EMPHASIZES TEAMWORK AND IMPROVED PERFORMANCE
Shibuyunji Town Council Secretary, Mr. Oscar Chilanga, today, 4th June 2026, held a management meeting with heads of departments and units aimed at strengthening service delivery and improving council operations.
During the meeting, Mr. Chilanga emphasized the importance of teamwork among all employees, stating that collective effort and collaboration are key to achieving the Council's development goals. He encouraged management staff to work together, support one another, and maintain effective communication in their daily operations.
The Council Secretary also stressed the need for enhanced revenue collection, noting that increased local revenue is critical for the successful implementation of development projects and the provision of quality services to the people of Shibuyunji District. He urged departments responsible for revenue collection to intensify their efforts and ensure that all revenue sources are fully utilized.
Furthermore, Mr. Chilanga reminded employees of the importance of adhering to their approved work plans. He said work plans serve as a guide for achieving departmental targets and organizational objectives, and therefore should be followed diligently. He encouraged officers to remain focused, accountable, and committed to delivering results within the set timelines.
Mr. Chilanga further encouraged employees to remain committed to their responsibilities and contribute positively towards the growth of the Council. He called on all staff members to work with dedication, professionalism, and a shared sense of purpose in order to improve service delivery and achieve the Council's goals for the benefit of the people of Shibuyunji District

The Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has launched a three-day voter education training in Shibuyunji District for District Voter Education Committee (DVEC) members, ZANIS officers, and patrons and matrons of Voter Education School Clubs.
The training is aimed at equipping participants with knowledge and skills to effectively educate communities on electoral matters ahead of the 2026 General Election.
Officially opening the training, District Electoral Officer Mr. Oscar Chilanga urged participants to remain committed and professional in carrying out voter education activities. He said voter education is important in helping citizens understand their rights and responsibilities during elections and encouraged participants to share accurate and non-partisan information with members of the public.
Mr. Chilanga further said informed citizens are able to make better decisions during elections, adding that voter education plays a key role in strengthening democracy and promoting peaceful participation in the electoral process.
The training started on 21st May 2026 and will end on Saturday, 23rd May 2026. It is being facilitated by Shibuyunji District Voter Education Trainers (DVETs), Mr. Movin Mapulanga and Mr. Hana Mweemba Kaala, who are guiding participants through various voter education topics ahead of the 2026 General Election.
