It’s !

We’re throwing it back to the King’s Birthday Party, where we celebrated with one of the UK’s most recognisable and iconic gins — Beefeater.

A great reminder of the UK’s rich heritage of craftsmanship and the moments that bring people together.

Last evening, the British High Commissioner hosted energy sector leaders to celebrate the achievements of the UK-funded Green Cities Infrastructure and Energy Programme (GCIEP), and the continuation of UK support to the energy sector under the CIGZambia programme.

GCEIP has contributed to several important milestones in the sector. These include the Ministry of Energy - Procurement Framework, and analysis of Tax and Non-Tax Incentives Framework for Electricity Development in Zambia. In addition the programme supported competitive renewable energy procurement, financial modeling and mapping the energy needs of the critical minerals sector.

These achievements represent important foundations for increased investment improved sector governance and greater confidence in Zambia’s energy future.

The United Kingdom remains committed to supporting Zambia’s development ambitions and to strengthening the long-standing partnership between our two countries. So while the GCEIP programme has come to an end, the UK intends to continue supporting Zambia’s energy sector priorities under its sister programme, CIGZambia.

This reflects our shared recognition that energy sector transformation is a long-term journey that requires continuity, sustained partnership and ongoing technical collaboration.

We look forward to seeing how the momentum, progress and partnerships built through these programmes can continue to support Zambia’s energy transition and long-term economic growth.

A brilliant start to something special! ✨

We were delighted to welcome the first cohort of the Wallace Group Universities Volunteer Programme to the British High Commission in Lusaka this week.

Deputy Head of Mission, Jason Tran, shared a warm welcome and encouraged the new volunteers to fully embrace their experience in Zambia as they begin their journey.

Thirteen students, alongside their Project Manager, have travelled from across the UK and will spend the next two months working with Sport in Action—supporting young people across Lusaka through sport, mentorship, and coaching. From Chipata to Kanyama, Matero to Kamwala, their journey is now underway.

“Going out to Zambia as student volunteering is a chance to grow alongside others, learn from different perspectives and use our collective strengths to contribute to Zambia development”
— Jayci Barclay, Northumbria, one of the volunteers said.

The energy, curiosity, and commitment in the room during orientation set the tone for what promises to be an impactful experience. There is also plenty to look forward to, including a vibrant “Zambian Night” later this week.

This work matters. Partnerships like these go beyond volunteering—they build lasting connections between the UK and Zambia, support community-led development, and create opportunities for young people to learn from one another, share cultures, and drive positive change through sport.

We’re excited to see the impact unfold in the weeks ahead!

What a great way to mark ! A morning ride led by H.E. British High Commissioner to Zambia, Rebecca Terzeon, with Zambia’s Cultural Ambassador and tall bicycle sensation One YeYe international 🚴🏾‍♀️✨

The ride ended with a breakfast at the British Residence and an engaging conversation about One Ye Ye’s inspiring cycling travels across Zambia, his most recent travel to Cape Town, plans for the future and Zambia’s rich cultural heritage.

They recalled their meetings at Zambia’s cultural ceremonies and finally ticked off taking a bike ride together. The High Commissioner presented One Ye Ye with a gift, marking their shared passion for cultural awareness and collaboration.

Days like this remind us of how diverse, rich, and fun Zambian culture is — best experienced sometimes on two wheels.

As the saying goes, “Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”
