Good vision begins with the right referral.
When patients are identified at primary care facilities like Roan Hospital and referred to tertiary centres like Kitwe Teaching Eye Hospital they gain access to critical services, including surgery and corrective spectacles.
A well-functioning referral system saves sight, reduces delays and transforms lives. Together, we can make eye care more accessible for all.

This month is a reminder to take your eye health seriously. Blurry vision, difficulty seeing at night or dull colours may seem like small changes but they could be early signs of cataracts.
The good news? Cataracts are treatable, especially when detected early.

As the VISION 2020/IAPB Conference comes to a close, the Orbis Zambia team leaves Nairobi inspired and equipped with new ideas to strengthen eye health services in Zambia.
On Day 3, Orbis Zambia Country Director Lucy Mvula joined discussions on sustainable financing for eye health, highlighting the need to position eye care as a driver of productivity, education, road safety, mental well-being and national development. She emphasized that investing in eye health delivers far-reaching social and economic benefits for individuals, families and communities.
Reflecting on the conference, Orbis President and CEO Kathleen Sherwin noted that the future of eye health depends on strong, coordinated systems that can deliver quality care at scale and ensure no one is left behind.
Over the past three days, the conference has reinforced the importance of partnerships, innovation, advocacy and sustainable investment in advancing eye health for all. We look forward to integrating these lessons as we continue working with the Ministry of Health and partners to improve access to quality eye care across Zambia.
